Family Support in Guildford, Built on Connection

Hello, I’m Rebecca, Director of Time for Tea Companions. My journey began through volunteering, when I met Doreen, a woman in her 90s who was feeling isolated.

At first, we met for weekly visits. Over time, however, our chats, games and coffees grew into a friendship that meant a great deal to us both.

When funding cuts brought the service to an end, I continued visiting her privately. Our friendship lasted through different stages of her life, right up until her 97th birthday.

Doreen passed away in December 2025, but those shared moments still shape everything we do. Her friendship inspired our family support in Guildford, helping older loved ones find companionship while giving their families reassurance.

She was such a great help with my Mum, allowing me to go away knowing she had a friend visiting who would help out & make sure she was ok.

Living 2 1/2 hours away makes it difficult for me to help mum with her day to day needs. Rebecca and Abby have been fabulous. They offer great company and also help mum get to appointments and to the supermarket and are always proactively offering their help so that mum has everything she needs and more. Thank You!
